AMB 2016: Hoffmann Group revises the Machining Handbook

The sixth significantly extended edition is now available

Stuttgart/Munich, 13th September 2016 – At the AMB 2016 the Hoffmann Group, Europe's leading system partner for quality tools, will publish the new revised edition of its Machining Handbook. In its 1200 pages the comprehensive standard reference book for the ambitious machining professional offers all you need to know about materials and their machinability – compact, not favouring any specific manufacturer, and in a clear format.

The Hoffmann Group has packed the years of experience and expert knowledge of its machining advisers into its Machining Handbook. It deals with professional drilling, countersinking, reaming, sawing, milling, turning, knurling, clamping, precision grinding and thread cutting. The comprehensive standard reference work offers an overview of machining processes and application recommendations, with cutting value tables and formulae for material, production technologies, tool materials and coatings. The concept for this was prepared with the assistance of the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology.

For the sixth edition of the Machining Handbook, the Hoffmann Group has expanded it to cover new tools and modern materials, and for the first time has split it into the two volumes “Principles of machining” and “Cutting data”. In the first volume the machining process is now explained even more clearly than in the first edition. On the other hand the second volume, which in future will be updated every year, deals with the cutting data. This means the Hoffmann Group Machining Handbook is the ideal companion for day-to-day work.

The cutting data compiled in volume two of the Machining Handbook can also be called up in the Hoffmann Group ToolScout as digital data.
