Th e construction industry is one of the many industries where innovative plastic materials are being utilized. With the strong emphasis now on environmentally responsible design, more builders of residential and commercial buildings, as well as interior designers, are turning into innovative plastics materials for durability, improved security, aesthetics, functionality, and high performance. The use of more advanced technologies and given the higher private and government investments into construction and building, engineered thermoplastics are now being developed to support the trend of replacing expensive and heavy metals with lightweight and competitively-priced plastics.    Companies are now perfecting the art of granulating and pelletizing plastics to meet the needs of customers for more efficient, cost-saving and environmentfriendly process. Such new investment reflects Rapid’s confidence in China and the rest of the Asian markets.    The Manufacturing Expo 2009 in Thailand which featured four major shows namely, InterPlas, InterMold, Automotive Manufacturing, and Assembly Technology, gathered over 1,800 exhibitors and 34,000 industrialists even in the wake of the global economic slump and Thailand’s internal problems. The mega-event has truly established itself as a leading venue to show off the best in ASEAN’s manufacturing machinery and technology for plastics and rubber, mold and die, auto parts, automation, and electronic parts manufacturing. Next year, the organizers promise additional attractions and we look forward to a bigger show with more breakthrough products.
